Astronomy Education: an interdisciplinary field of research and practice – Lara Rodrigues

This talk addresses astronomy education as an interdisciplinary field of research and practice that goes beyond traditional outreach activities. A brief review of the international literature on astronomy education research is presented, and the Chilean case is shown in more detail, considering perspectives from the national school curriculum, teachers’ content knowledge, and professional development programs. The talk ends with a discussion of how astronomers can engage with education in a more effective way.
