Vera C. Rubin Observatory – On-Site Commissioning and Integration – Bruno Quint

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory is currently in its final phase of construction, commissioning, and integration, with the expectation of becoming operational by the end of 2025. Throughout this process, the integration of various components occurs in distinct stages.
We begin with software integration, ensuring the proper functioning of all systems. Next, we received the main telescope structure, serving as a foundation for subsequent stages. Then, we had a campaign focused on integrating the telescope with the primary/tertiary mirror mass simulators and the secondary mirror.
According to our schedule, it is expected that all other components, including the commissioning camera, will be integrated into the main telescope by July of this year, allowing us to be ready to explore the sky. The main camera is expected to be installed later in the same year. In this presentation, I aim to provide a brief introduction to the Vera C. Rubin Observatory and its fundamental objectives.
Additionally, I will briefly present the different integration campaigns we conducted, their focus, and their outcomes, highlighting how each contributes to the observatory’s operation. I will also take the opportunity to share some information about the work carried out on the mountain, providing a broader view of ongoing activities.
