Dynamics of exoplanetary systems – Carolina Charalambous

Dynamics play a pivotal role in a wide range of scientific efforts in planetary sciences, ranging from evolution of Solar System’s minor bodies, exoplanetary systems, and ultimately conditions for habitability. Determining the architecture of multi-planetary systems is one of the cornerstones for understanding planet formation and evolution of extrasolar systems as well as our own. The characterization of extrasolar planets via their dynamics further supplies us with lots of clues hidden in the formation process. In this talk, I plan to discuss how theoretical explanations can complement observations helping us predict the positions of yet undetected planets and understand their formation and subsequent evolutionary process.
