The shape and scatter of the stellar mass-halo mass relation at the faint end – Azadeh Fattahi

Dark matter content of dwarf galaxies has long been a matter of debate as a potential tension between observations and the predictions of the standard LCDM model. A key source of uncertainty in this debate is the stellar mass-halo mass (SMHM) relation at the faintest end. In this talk I present new results on the SMHM relation, based on a new large suite of cosmological hydrodynamical simulations, focused on studies of dwarf galaxies. I will introduce this new suite which consists of zoom-in simulations of volumes from different environment.  I will discuss the influence of environment on the predicted shape of the SMHM relation, the origin of the scatter in this relation, and the associated observable signatures.

I further show (quickly) new results from Lyra cosmological simulations of ultra faint dwarf galaxies, with an unprecedented resolution of 4Msol, the highest resolution cosmological simulations ever attempted to z=0.
