Chemical fingerprints of the pristine Milky Way — Felipe Gran (PUC)

The atmospheres of very and extremely metal-poor stars ([Fe/H] < −2 and −3 dex) trace the nucleosynthetic yields of the First Stars, offering a stellar path to study the early phases of metal enrichment of the Universe. In this colloquium, I will review the current observational efforts to unveil the metal-poor end of the metallicity distribution function of the Milky Way and discuss how the detailed chemical abundances of these pristine stars can be used to trace the enrichment channels of the Population III stars (with zero metallicity). By tracing the yields of these stars, we aim to shed light on the physical processes and stellar populations that shaped the early chemical enrichment processes to delve into the dawn of the Galaxy.
