Modeling the dynamics of solids in protoplanetary disks – Pablo Benítez Llambay

Planet formation is a central topic in modern astrophysics. So far, we have confirmed the existence of over five thousand exoplanets, showing a wide diversity of planet types and systems. The processes that lead to planet formation and the evolution of planetary systems are crucial in shaping these systems. In addition, high-resolution observations of the solid component of the disks are revolutionizing our understanding of protoplanetary disks and planet formation. Therefore, to unravel these processes, it is critical to accurately model and simulate numerically the coupled dynamics of gas and polydisperse dust distributions. In this talk, I will present and describe some of the methods and tools that we have been developing recently to solve the dynamics of solids in protoplanetary disks. Also, I will present and discuss recent results on planet migration obtained with these tools.
