The Departamento de Astronomía y Astrofísica (Astronomy and Astrophysics Department, DAA) is one of the two academic divisions of the Faculty of Physics of Ponticia Universidad Catolica de Chile (PUC). This faculty offers undergraduate (Liceniatura) degrees with major in Astronomy or Physics, and Ph.D. and Master’s programs in Astrophysics or Physics. The mission of the DAA is to be a center of excellence for studies in Astronomy and Astrophysics, covering a broad range of areas of observational and theoretical astrophysics and to prepare the next generations of students that will profit from the superb observational facilities available to Chilean astronomers and their collaborators. In this report, we review the main activities at DAA from September 2002 until September 2003.
