In August 2021, a fire affected the facilities of the Institute of Astrophysics of the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile, burning part of its infrastructure, especially the front and an office wing, where valuable academic material was kept. And  today, after almost three years of reconstruction, the building was reopened in its entirety.<\/p>\n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n\n

The works included the construction of offices for faculty, postdocs and students and a space for rest and food, which consists of armchairs, a dining room, refrigerator and a terrace with tables and chairs to facilitate rest. In addition, the fa\u00e7ade of the building was remodeled and access for people with reduced mobility was included. <\/p>\n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n\n

The IA is preparing an opening ceremony that will soon be informed to its educational community.<\/p>\n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n \n \n\n
